Review period - A weekday evening during Oct 2015
Review type - First hand.

Follow instagram @thenudistcalendar for more points in this format.

Note - Picture taken from Facebook page of Therme Wien. Photography is not allowed inside saunas. People leave their mobiles in lockers. Also, you will not find much pics of the nudist section in the internet as well.

Brief background
  • To be added.

I would have preferred to go on a weekend but I had a weekday only. I went on an evening on a cold day and and was present after 6pm. Following are my observations from the mixed gender nude section only -

Visitor details
  • Weather - During the 3 days I was present, most of the days were overcast. It was quiet cold, with temperature approx 5 to 8 degrees Celsius but the enthusiasm of the visitors was interesting to see. There were heaters set up right next to many tables in the outdoor area, next to the pool, so that people could relax naked.

  • Total visitors - Felt like 100+ at a time (guess).

  • Entry - On spot and online available. Approx € 40 for a 4 hours visit on weekends.
  • No "couple only" entry rules.
  • No age restrictions. But those below 13 years need to be accompanied by adults, as per official wevsite.

  • Nudity rules - Swimwear was not allowed in the nude section and nobody was wearing any. Towels were allowed for sitting or lying down inside the saunas. Towels can be used to cover up as well. Towels or bathrobes are mandatory in the restaurant section.

  • Gender ratio - Women : men was roughly 1 : 5.

  • States of undress - Almost 100% men and women were naked in the swimming pools .The pool was outdoor and although the water was hot, there were not too many people inside.

  • Age bracket ratio - (18-40) : 40+ felt like less than 1 : 1 towards 18-40 group.
  • There was one girl who seemed below 18.
  • Racial composition - Only whites.

  • Ethnic composition - Majority were Austrians, it seems (German speaking). I could hear many of them speaking German whikr interacting as a group in a sauna room over an Aufguss ritual by a young girl, who was probably among the visitors.

  • Interaction level - Low to moderate. People mostly go there to relax and not to socialize, so most of the sauna rooms are quiet. However, in some infusion saunas, the sauna masters speak in German while fanning the hot air towards guests and the environment can become a bit interactive. I don't remember exactly if there was any Sauna master available there, but one of the visitors, it seems, a young girl, probably around 14 or so, was doing it for the guests.

  • Attractions and activities - Various types of saunas, but much limited, as compared to Therme Erding, in Munich, Germany.

  • Sexual activities observed? No.

  • Body sizes ratio - Less than 1 : 1 towards the slim side (guesstimate, too many people to calculate exactly).

  • Solo visitors present? Yes, men definitely. There also were solo women probably but due to sauna rooms mostly being quiet places, it is difficult to often find out if two people came together or not.

Post #14 - Swanbourne Beach - Nudist destination review

Destination - Swanbourne beach (clothing optional beach).
Location - Perth, Australia.
Review duration -  A weekday during Jan 2018
Review type - First hand.
Official link - N/A

Brief background

  • This is one of the two legal nude beaches within or near Perth city, as of 2018.
  • The distance from Perth city centre is almost 12 kms and with public transport one needs to walk  just 1.5 kms, approximately, amidst beautiful residential areas to reach the beach.
  • North section of the Swanbourne beach has a designated clothing optional section.

Brief review

Detailed review

Weather

  • Sunny, 29-30 degrees Celsius.
  • I checked the temperature later on timeanddate.com by browsing to past dates. Although 29 to 30 degrees, but it felt a bit colder.

Visitors

  • Less than 8 in the clothing optional section.
  • Given that January is a good season, I expected a larger crowd. Just to give some better idea, my visits to all the nude beaches in Perth were pretty similar - nil to little participation by people, although all those visits were on weekdays, I don't think weekend visits would have been much different.
  • During the same season, in Adelaide, I saw a more healthier participation. On a regular weekend, the participation was higher, and on the day of the annual nudist games, it was huge. Check my review of Pilwarren Maslin beach nude games.

Entry
  • Free and open.
  • No "couple only" entry rules.

Nudity rules

  • Clothing optional board was there designating the section of beach.

Gender ratio

  • Almost all were men. Don't remember seeing any woman within the clothing optional area.

States of undress

  • Roughly 30% men naked, no women naked or within clothing optional area.

Age bracket ratio

  • (18-40) : 40+ was roughly 5 : 1.
  • There were few houses within a stone's throw from the demarcation of the clothing optional section. There were many kids playing in the vicinity, but not even one of them looked curious to venture into that section. They seemed pretty normal with their daily affairs.

Racial composition

Ethnic composition

  • No information.

Body sizes ratio
  • No plus size.

Solo visitors present

  • Yes, males only.

Interaction level
  • Low.

Sexual activities observed

  • No, but one same sex male couple was naked behind the sand dunes.
