  • There are several nudist resorts in Thailand, in at least a total of 6 resorts in at least 4 cities of Thailand.

Detailed review

Review period

  • My visit was during October, when the resort was pretty filled. November is expected to have more varied international visitors, being the time of the Lantern Festival, "Loi Krathong".

Weather
  • It was a pleasant sunny day. With temperatures between 27 and 29 degrees Celsius, during the evening when I visited, it was a great day to chill with some drinks by the pool side. The local welcome drink they served was great.

Total Visitors
  • Approx. 10 visiters at a time at around 4pm.
  • Total visitors that came that day, during the 3 hours I was there, were almost 14.

Entry
  • Entry was available for me on spot for a day visit. However, during peak season, it would be a good idea to call them in advance, to confirm booking.
  • Per hour charges were THB 80 per hour.
  • No "couple only" entry rule was there and single men were welcome. No affiliation to any naturist association was needed.

Day visitors allowed?
  • Yes.

Nudity rules
  • They expect visitors to undress when they arrive and be naked until you are ready to return.
  • For newbies, however, it is expected that they may take some time to feel comfortable.

Gender ratio
  • Ratio of women : men was roughly 1 : 3.

Age bracket ratio
  • Ratio of (18 to 40) : 40 + was roughly 1:1 for men and women.
  • There were some kids of the staff

States of undress
  • Almost 100% men and women were completely naked at some point of time.
  • The staff members, including some young men and women were fully clothed. There was also a kid, of the staff members, during one of my visits, who was clothed and was playing around, in the visitors section.

Racial & Ethnic composition
  • Majority were yellows, followed by whites. If the term yellow in this context is new for you, refer color terminology for races and this map distribution.
  • Majority were Thai speaking people, few whites, including one German man.
  • I must say, I have been pleasantly surprised by seeing Thai people participating in nudism with such enthusiasm, particularly Thai women. Before my visit, I could not have expected Thai women getting completely naked in front of fellow Thai men, because I had seen several similarities of Thai culture with Indian culture, some even in terms of orthodox religious/cultural practices, such as not allowing women entry into temples (in Chiang Mai).

Body sizes ratio
  • Ratio of plus sizes to others was roughly 1 : 1 among women, and roughly 2 : 1 among men (guess).

Solo visitors present?
  • Yes, males only.

Facilities/attractions
  • Saw Sauna, massage, rooms to stay, basic gym etc. Massage course for couples also available.
  • This place seemed to be an ideal one for hosting nudist meetups, because newbies can feel more comfortable in the presence of the resort staff. While I was there, I announced a nudist event on Couchsurfing. One man RSVPed as well but didn't turn up.

Sexual activities observed?
  • No. Couples hugging on the swimming pool, at max.

Capacity
  • Less than 20 tanning beds by poolside.

Weekday vs weekend feel
  • I went to this resort twice, during the same week - one during a weekday also. The overall feel and the visitor stats were almost same as one a weekend.

Interaction level
  • Medium. It was a good place to strike a conversation.

Difficulty level
  • Easy. The fact that everyone was naked, it was easy to be naked. The staff members being clothed and too close and having a clear view of us was a bit of an issue when there were not enough of visitors present. At some points, there could be very few visitors but the number fluctuates a lot within a few hours.
  • Also, there is always an option to cover up with the provided towel.

Note - The resort staff members were not included in the calculations of the visitor stats.

Overall rating

  • 3.99 out of 5.
  • Having been to two nudist resorts in Thailand - Oriental Village resort in Chiang Mai as well, I wish, I could get the best of both the resorts - the wide open lawns of Oriental Village, Chiang Mai with the location and visitors of Barefeet.
