WNBR Infographics - a data backed analysis of the World Naked Bike Rides

Background

We have been following the 2022 WNBR season (May-Sep) closely. In April, we published a blog titled Participation strength of WNBRs around the world. In June, we went deeper and began by publishing a schedule for the northern hemisphere in a video format -

Agenda

In this phase of the project, we are planning to prepare infographics on the following data points - 

1. Venues by year-wise ride status data - one green block for every successful ride year. This will let us see total rides held in each venue and total rides held across venues in a given year. Here is a sample of how the infographic would look like for each venue -

2. Venues by total participants - Here is version 1 of this (done during April 2022) and the blog we published (with the updated interactive map) - 

3. Participation comparison 2021 vs 2022 - This could let us analyze the impact due to Russia-Ukraine war.

Participation in the research

We have been actively looking for people to provide data for the infographics. We also look forward to the organizers of the WNBRs for certain information.

We have put up this thread on Twitter for collecting the various data. You can follow us closely there.

Further to the scope of this project on WNBRs, we also welcome people to submit us more visitor stats, like gender ratio, states of undress, age bracket ratio etc. for our ongoing initiative to publish reviews of nudist destinations/events. The reviews hence published will be eligible as entries for our review submission contests and applicable prizes . Check here for the previous contest we ran. Key observations

• France has so far been successful with only one ride venue, i.e. Rennes. With several failed attempts in Paris, few more venues have got added over the years to the list of failed venues, like Avignon, Lyon. 
• Certain ride venues really shocked us in terms of the restrictions imposed on the nudity. Both the venues in Germany (a country where many cities have city parks with nude zones) - Cologne and Berlin, have been running the event with a condition that genitals (and breasts as well?) cannot be displayed.

Future prospects

More infographics on the following may be possible to create, but only with much larger crowd-sourcing -

1. Venues by gender ratio of participants

2. Venues by support of administration (e.g. whether municipal corporation itself helped and setup posters, whether police escorted).

WNBRs, as a concept are a crowd-sourced initiative, so why should not the research on them be? We started our research based on what is already available on http://wiki.worldnakedbikeride.org. However, the pages of most of the ride venues are not being maintained. We plan to approach the http://wiki.worldnakedbikeride.org/ team to update the repository with the information that we collect.

9 Indian vloggers who have occassionally vlogged on visits to nudist destinations

Background

All of us know that a lot of Indian vloggers often add clickbait cover pics and titles for their videos. So, we did some hard work and compiled a list of vloggers who actually visited some legal nudist destinations or nudist events around the world. Some of them actually participated by getting nude and some just described the experience. One of them also interviewed one of the participants, who was nude, although she herself was not nude.

So enjoy this compilation which we have prepared after months of efforts of screening past clickbait videos, and filtering out to keep only those videos that carry the right vibes and proper nudist etiquettes overall.

9. Rahul Umale

He has vlogged about Amsterdam and places in Netherlands in the past one year.

This video is about his visit to Zandvoort beach, Netherlands. It is his highest viewed video so far, with 2.7k views with the closest one having less than 500 views.

8. Genx Traveltube

Through his vlog, Amit Dahiya has vlogged mostly about Sydney in the past 3 years, and it includes visits to a few nude beaches.

This video is about a visit to Lady bay beach, Sydney, Australia.

 

7. Deepak On Board 

He has vlogged a few from Croatia and Serbia. He has 6.11K Subscribers on Youtube. 

His video is also about a visit to Ada Ciganlija, Serbia.

6. Hitesh Jashnani

He has been vlogging since almost 2 years, mostly about life in Canada, and often posts about dance videos etc. He has 12k Subscribers on Youtube.

This video is from his visit to Hanlan's Point Beach, Canada, with his friends. It has almost 47k Views as of 11th June.

5. Desi Vagabond 

Siddharth Khanna has travelled across 25 countries & 3 continents so far, including Iran, Egypt, Russia, South Korea etc., and has an ambition to travel around the world. He has 23.9k Subscribers on Youtube.

This video is about his visit to a nude beach in Sochi, Russia and has almost 18.9k views as on 11th June 2022. He participates in the experience as well.

4. Swati Verma Styles

She has been vloggin about life in Canada since almost two years, and often vlogs about skin care and beauty products and tips. She has 4.15K Subscribers on Youtube.

This video is about a visit to the Vancouver World Naked Bike Ride.

 

Video analysis

With 220k views and 886 likes, this video, posted almost two years ago, is her highest viewed video so far, with the closest one at 24k views (almost one tenth).

3. Lintu Rony

She has a Malayalam language channel on Youtube and has been vlogging mostly from UK since almost four years. Her channel has 136k Subscribers.

This video is about a weekend in Brighton and one brief section has her visit to Brighton nude beach,  wherein she interacts with and captures some nude sunbathers after taking their permission. The video has almost 314k views and 6.5k likes as on 11th June 2022. 

2. Mountain Trekker 

Varun is a full time traveler and a globe trotter, who has been vlogging about experiences from various countries since 7 years. He has 1.55M subscribers on Youtube.

This video is about a visit to Ada Ciganlija, Serbia, with only a brief section about what he saw in the nude section. The video has 849K views and 23K likes as on 11th June 2022.

1. Explorer Raja 

With 85.5k subscribers, he is among the fastest growing Indian backpackers presently. Has has traveled extensively throughout South America and has posted a couple of nude beach visits so far.

This one is about his visit to 'Praia De Galheta', a nude beach in Florianopolis, Brazil with some travel friends. He actually indulges in the experience which is why we rate it as one of the best in the list. 

Video analysis

With 1.9M views, this particular video is his highest viewed video so far, with the closest one having 783k views, i.e., less than half.

Conclusion 

Nude beach or nudist destination vlogs by regular or travel vloggers can add wholesomeness to the content of the vloggers and give a complete idea to the lifestyle of the country or the place they vlog about. A tasteful vlog, done in the right way, can be just like introduction of a new custom or culture of the place to the subscribers. It has good potential to kindle the right interest in their minds and also may onboard new enthusiasts.

It could be very beneficial to the vloggers as well. We have seen vloggers getting upto 10 times the views on a video on nudist destination visits made almost 2 years back. There are actually very few vloggers who have made good vlogs, without clickbaits and there is room for a lot more. And there is still a long way to go for some Indian or someone from the subcontinent region or of such origins, to come up as a nudist vlogger.

We, for certain, would be looking forward to them.

Itinerary

• You submit a review of a nudist destination you have visited, with visitor stats and destination information in bullet points.
• We publish your submission as a post on Instagram.
• Our followers vote by liking from the posts by all the contestants.
• The post with the maximum number of likes is declared the winner.
• The contest concludes with result declaration, payment/giveaway, delivery of winners's certificate and complementary gifts to winner(s). 

Steps to send review

• There are three Surveymonkey forms that need to filled. These are provided in the section below. 
• Please fill up all the three forms and submit them. Please provide as much specific visitor stats and information as possible. It's okay to not remember all the stats with accurate detail. Please specify how well you remember by selecting the right option next to each question. 
• Please submit a picture of the venue from your visit (picture of the venue only). Please email us the same at nudistcalendar@gmail.com. Additional pics or pics having you in the frame may also be provided and those may later be published in our blog posts.
• Please let us know by a message on Instagram/Email once you have filled up a form. 

Prizes

• Winner will be given prize money of USD 25/50 depending on the month for which the review was sent. Vacant months (for which we don't yet have any positive review, as shown in the calendar below) will be eligible for USD 50. 
• Winner will be given a complimentary gift, courtesy Sillybare (Universal Naturist Symbol Store), our first gifting partner.

Categories

• Day visit attractions - These may include beaches, thermal bath complexes, restaurants, swimming pools, etc.
• Normally, beaches are not brands but one among the exceptions is Haulover beach.

• Accommodations / stay attractions - This includes accommodation rentals like Naturist BnB, hotels, resorts, backpacker hostels, parks/campsites.
• Resorts and cruises may be open for day visits and/or overnight stays.
• Backpacker hostels are a very rare sub-category. We came to know about Gazebo Backpackers, Golden Bay in New Zealand with great efforts but unfortunately, it got closed down during covid.
• Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park, Canada and DeAnza Springs Resort, USA have been our brand partners since 2021 and 2022 respectively.

• Workshops - Nude yoga is a very popular activity for workshops. 
• Online workshops - Online Naked Yoga with Jessa conducts online as well as offline classes in Sydney and some other cities of Australia.
• Offline workshops - Nudismo Nude House Colombia conducts various offline workshops in Bogota, Colombia.

• Events - There are recurring annual events like - Bay to Breakers in USA, North East Skinny dip in UK.
• WNBRs or World Naked Bike Rides are a genre of their own. They happen in various cities around the world, often around the same time once a year. 
• Check out our blog post on participation strength of WNBRs around the world and a user submitted review of Bay to Breakers on our platform.

• Festivals - There are some which are centered around nudity and also some which are not centered around nudity but have one or two such event
• Most probably Pashut Festival, which takes place in a Desert Ashram in Israel, is of the first type.
• The naked run event in the annual Roskilde Festival of Denmark is an example of the second type.

• Advocacy organizations/awareness campaigns - The International Naturist Federation (INF-FNI) is an organisation consisting of member federations, correspondents and extraordinary members in over forty countries.
• AANR, the organization of the US, got out of INF some time back. So, currently the US does not have any. Here is the list of all the country-specific organizations.
• In addition to these, there may be additional organizations focussing a country. E.g., in addition to the German Association for Naturism, Germany also has Get Naked Germany.
• There are movements working towards body freedom/positivity like Body Freedom International, towards gender equality like Free The Nipple, towards bringing together people of particular races/ethnicities, like Nubian Nudist.

• Stores - Sillybare store is a store focussing on the Universal Naturist Symbol. It is owned by the creator of the symbol. 
• Nudist accessories are available with stores like Neudies.
• There could be various small-scale stores that have nudist merchandise.

• Entertainment - Music au Naturel by Ton Dou is a dedicated producer of nudist songs.
• Bare Body Freedom Reality TV (BBFRTV) and Nudism.TV are producers of nudist shows, music, entertainment etc.

• Social networks / dating platforms - There are many social networks, with the prominent ones having various USPs. Truenudists is probably the oldest one. Then we have Naturist Hub, which is an invite-only network.
• There are a lot of platforms claiming to be dating platforms, but we cannot confidently name any of them, because there are serious doubts about the authenticity of the profiles in those. Due to the lack of genuine female members, they probably fill up those with paid members, pretending to be females. Also, many of them solicit prostitution in some form or the other.

• Magazines/directories/journals - 
• Magazines - 
• There are some monthly magazines which operate globally like H&E Naturist. Their magazines are available online and offline. 
• Some magazines are primarily focused on a country but also cover the globe, like TAN Magazine. They publish online and offline as well.
• There are quarterly global magazines like N Magazine by The Naturist Society. N Magazine publishes offline.
• H&E Naturist had featured us in their December 2021 issue, and as such, they are our publishing partners.
• Directories - Naturist directories are listings of naturist businesses/beaches/profiles of user etc. Examples are A Naturist World, Clothes Free Life, etc.
• Journals - The Nude Journal, by The Nude Blogger is a monthly online journal which focuses on Australia. 

• Reviewers / bloggers - Nick & Lins from Naked Wanderings are a famous nude traveler, who identify themselves as travelers first, and then as someone who love to be nude during their travels.

• Calendars - The annual "Happy Nude Year" by The Nudist Calendar, which was re-launched in 2022, is a calendar with one handpicked nudist destination for every month. 
• Each review consists of visitor stats and key destination information in consolidated bullet points.

• Review platforms - Nudist Compass comes with its web and Android App and has nudist destinations listed on their platforms with ratings and descriptions. 
• Although the destinations are added by users of the system, other users can only comment on a destination which is already added.
• The Nudist Calendar is a crowd-sourced platform which publishes hand-picked nudist destination reviews.

• Podcasts - The Naturist Living Show is produced by Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park, Canada. 

• Ad networks - This is a very useful and underutilized category, with only one known player - Naturist Ads by Nick & Lins from Naked Wanderings.
• Nudist/naturist ad networks provide a great avenue to nudist brands and businesses to target platforms/users already consuming nudist/naturist content from dedicated platfroms. This comes as a great relief while all the other major platforms, like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Quora, Reddit have various kinds/levels of restrictions on nudism. More on this will come up in a blog post by us in near future.
• In addition to targeting nudist audiences specifically, Naturist Ads also charge on the CPC model, which is cost per click and is independent of views/impressions.
• We have used their services several times since 2021.

Apart from this, there could be numerous other people/infleuncers etc. who may be uncategorised. They contribute in various ways like - 

• Posting own nude pictures.
• Conducting nudist events - like Attila Deak.
• Maintaining nudist groups - like Indian Naturists Members (Facebook), Thailand Naturism Meetup on Meetup.com, many on Mewe Platform.

About the initiative

The agenda behind this initiative is to give a comprehensive idea to newbie nudism enthusiasts (not only individuals but also upcoming/interested brands/businesses) to understand who all are the players in this ecosystem. A few points -

• Any brand/business having a brand identity (logo/tagline, etc.) or a social media presence is considered eligible to represent a category/sub-category.
• Making revenue is not a qualifying criterion to be in this ecosystem. Non-profits are equally welcome.
• There may be many individuals who could be earning but may not be having any brand recognition and hence not being captured here.
• Many brand/business owners could be having businesses across multiple segments, e.g. Nick & Lins have Naturist Ads, and Naturist Hub in addition to being independent travel bloggers/reviewers.
• We don't claim that the brands/businesses we mentioned under each category are the only such brands. However, we do try to mention those with whom we have interacted/partnered or those whom we would like to partner with.

Motivation 

Since our beginning, we have been trying to connect, to collaborate with various brands and businesses. As such, we have developed a deep understanding of them. We would like to see more innovations in this field, be it by us or others. But this needs a good knowledge of the existing players. We found a single point of information missing and hence started working on this in Oct 2021.   

Version 2

The version 2 of this ambitious project comes after an overwhelming response to the Version 1.

This comes with many design improvements, feedback incorporations, etc. Majorly -

• The "Universal Naturist Symbol" has been placed at the centre of the Ecosystem, after a decisive 95% voting under r/naturism.
• A white circle has been added to denote the core of nudism/naturism.
• New categories were added like "Calendars".
• New sub-categories were added to many categories, like "Day visit attractions", "Events".
• Similar items have been moved to same pointer (e.g. TAN and H&E Naturist under Print/online magazines).
